What’s a “Wartime Period” for Non-Service Connected VA Pension?

in Eligibility & Types of Benefits

Only active duty service during an official period of war counts as wartime service for the VA aid and attendance benefit. Some wars don’t count, unfortunately. Two that don’t are the Grenada invasion in the 1980s and the Cuban missile crisis. Military service during those critical periods won’t count as meeting the requirement of at least one day of active duty service during wartime for eligibility for the VA aid and attendance benefit.
